Counselling

How can counselling help?

Counselling is a way of exploring your difficulties and feelings in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental setting, which can help you to make sense of these.

Talking to a qualified counsellor offers you the opportunity to become clearer about your issues. This clarity can in turn help you tap into your own resources so you may respond more effectively to these difficulties.

Another benefit of engaging in counselling is the understanding you may gain, in how your past experiences and current behaviour may be linked. Working with these insights, you gain the opportunity to choose alternative, healthier behaviours.

During your initial consultation, we will discuss your issues and counselling needs by gathering a range of information, including severity of your difficulties, current medication, support network etc.

After the initial assessment, we may choose to work together. In this case we will go through and agree on a written counselling contract. The contract includes details of day, time and location of sessions, cancellation procedure, fees, length of therapy, an explanation of confidentiality of sessions, goal of therapy and other relevant information.

My aim is to work with you to increase your self awareness and insights in to your issues. The next step is to identify and work with your own resources for resolving these issues. Counselling can be challenging at times, and I am trained to support you during this process.
